A few of the most commonly heard terms out hunting explained. Cap - The daily charge for non-subscribers (Please offer your cap, do not wait to be asked for it) Casting - When hounds are looking for the line they are said to be “casting”. The Huntsman may direct the hounds then he is casting. Check - When the hounds lose the line. Couple - Two hounds. Also two collars linked on a chain seen hanging on the hunt staff's saddles. "On Saturday 11th February I was able to get out hunting again with the Iveagh Foxhounds. We set off with the hounds just outside Loughbrickland by kind permission of Colin Buggs. Wintery conditions didn't stop the pack having a great spin out with some fantastic jumping set out my John Porter. Chloe Gunn & The Cow Pony

The cow Pony and i managed to get in two days hunting last week, both side saddle and both with the cattistock! It was so lovely to get compliments at the meet on our turnout which is much thanks to Amy expertise at The Old Hunting Habit for her advice on correct side saddle turnout. Thursday was farmers meet so slightly quieter and my fiancés first ever time hunting!
